Pre Marangu Route
Springlands, Moshi was buzzing with excitement as the old team, Brucie, William, and Salim, reunited for a thrilling adventure – Marangu Route of Kilimanjaro to summit on December 9th, Tanzania Independence Day. The air was filled with anticipation as people arrived, eager to check their kit and prepare for the journey ahead. TV crews were on-site, capturing every moment of the action and conducting interviews with the team members. The energy was electric as the Tanzanian Ambassadors make their grand entrance, adding an extra layer of prestige to the event.
I also had my own challenges: –
- to scatter Dad’s ashes alongside my Mum’s that I scattered at Uhuru Peak (19,341 ft above the clouds) in August 2023. They will be together for eternity – God Bless you both. I love you beyond words.
- to continue raising awareness of skin cancer despite being stage 4. I want to inspire others who have been affected by melanoma to come together as “Melanomamates” and support each other in the fight against skin cancer. By sharing our stories and spreading awareness, we can work towards preventing more lives from being lost to this devastating illness.
The atmosphere was charged with excitement and anticipation as everyone geared up for the challenges that were ahead. The teams readied themselves to take on whatever obstacles on their way, fueled by their passion for adventure and the thrill of the unknown.

As the sun set up Springlands, Moshi, the team stood united, ready to conquer the world together. This was just the beginning of an epic journey that would test their limits and push them to new heights.
We were as ready as anyone can be to tackle this great, beautiful HILL – what an adventure to fulfil.

Post Marangu Route
It was truly a night to remember, filled with laughter and a sense of accomplishment that was palpable in the air. The climbers shared stories of their journey, the challenges they faced, and the triumphs they experienced along the way. It was a time to reflect on the strength of the human spirit, the power of perseverance, and the beauty of teamwork.
As the night went on, the music continued to play and the dance floor was filled with people celebrating their success. The energy was infectious, and it was clear that this group of individuals had formed a bond that would last a lifetime.
The party was a fitting end to an incredible journey, a celebration of passion, determination, and achievement. It was a reminder that with hard work, dedication, and a supportive community, anything is possible. And as the sun began to rise on Wednesday morning, the climbers knew that they had not only conquered the mountain, but they had also conquered their own doubts and fears.
As they said their goodbyes and made plans to meet again in the future, there was a sense of pride and gratitude that filled their hearts. They had accomplished something truly remarkable, and they would carry that sense of accomplishment with them wherever they went.
