Rotary Lytham Charity Golf Day

The very kind members and committee of Rotary Lytham, especially John Ardern, went above and beyond in their generosity by agreeing to make an initial donation towards the Kilimanjaro Challenge. Not only that, but they also incredibly suggested that Melanoma UK be one of 3 charities that would benefit from the proceeds of their Annual Golf Day. This event is set to take place at the very prestigious venue of Royal Lytham Golf Club, adding an extra layer of significance to their thoughtful and impactful contribution. This collaboration between the Rotary Lytham and Melanoma UK exemplifies the power of community and philanthropy, ultimately making a meaningful difference to those in need.

The very kind individuals graciously extended their invitation for me to join them on the day of the event, and also for the dinner held in the club’s restaurant later that same evening. I must say, it was truly a fabulous event, as it is every year, and I thoroughly relished their lovely company and warm hospitality. The evening was filled with delightful conversations, laughter, and shared experiences, adding to the overall enjoyment of the occasion. The exquisite setting of the club’s restaurant, paired with the convivial atmosphere, made the entire experience truly unforgettable.

During the evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm golden glow over the surroundings, I was gracefully introduced to the attentive gathering of participants. The air was filled with an air of anticipation and excitement as my forthcoming challenges were discussed, shedding light on the reasons why Melanoma UK had been selected as one of the three charities to be supported at this remarkable event. In an inspiring display of solidarity, I wholeheartedly agreed to the proposal of returning after conquering my challenges, determined to showcase the tangible impact and accomplishments that had been realized. The commitment resonated deeply within me, igniting a sense of purpose and a shared sense of purpose among all those present.

On October 26th, the air was filled with anticipation as I solemnly made my way to The Clifton Arms Hotel in Lytham for the prestigious Rotary Lytham Luncheon. The grandeur of the occasion was palpable as I prepared to deliver a captivating presentation, designed to enlighten and inspire the esteemed members gathered there. With unwavering enthusiasm, I sought to convey the remarkable and awe-inspiring accomplishments that had been realized within a remarkably brief period. It was an opportunity to shed light on the extraordinary strides made, and to showcase the sheer dedication and ingenuity that had propelled us forward. The atmosphere was charged with an electric sense of possibility and potential, as I imparted insights that illuminated the path to even greater achievements in the future.

After the presentation, the assembled members returned to their agenda item of “AOB”. This included discussions from the Treasurer and other members. Then, however, their discussions turned to an award which is given after due consideration to people who have gone “above and beyond” while trying to do good for the worldwide community. To my absolute shock and disbelief, they named me as a recipient!

I was completely taken aback by the news. It was an unexpected and overwhelming honor to be recognized in such a manner. As the realization sank in, I felt a mix of emotions – gratitude, humility, and a sense of responsibility to continue making a positive impact in the community. The support and acknowledgment from my peers truly meant a lot to me, and it served as a reminder of the importance of dedicating oneself to helping others.

Receiving this award has not only been a personal achievement but also a highlight of my dedication to serving the community. I am truly grateful for this recognition and will strive to live up to the honor bestowed upon me. This experience has renewed my motivation to contribute to meaningful causes and make a difference wherever I can.
